  • The Arts Factory 2025

The Arts Factory has been very active in 2025. We have had many group and solo shows this summer and as we approach the holiday season we will have even more places that our artists work is on exhibit. As a group we have put on or sponsored some great opportunities to view their art.

Our member show at Arkell Museums Regional Galleries is one that all of our members look forward to. This year we once again have the coveted holiday slot of October through December. We have 31 different artists and 62 pieces of art on display in three different galleries at Arkell.

in addition to the Arkell Show we have plans to sponsor a themed “Animal Show” of small works at Highwheeler Coffee Shop in Fort Plain from December 1, 2025 through January 15, 2026.

We have had our artists featured in one or two person shows every month since April at the Fort Plain Free Library. This combined project has been a real delight for both our members who have a chance to display a body of their work and to the people of all ages who have been so pleased to see the art work of our talented members. Featured so far have been Phyllis Lapi, Katherine Lamere-Fortman, Tim Shaffer, Janet Marie Yeates Kate Van Loan, Karen Meilak and Mary Beth Vought. In November we have a combined exhibit featuring the work of Julie Konieczny and Marion Kratky.

Many of our artists are in other group and individual shows. These will be shared on a different post so stayed in tuned both here and on our facebook and instagram pages!

    Spring 2023

    The Snows of Canajoharie

Photographer Phil Scalia’s show The Snows of Canajoharie will be on exhibit in the Regional Art Galleries of the Arkell Museum & Canajoharie Library March 3, 2023 through April 30, 2023.  Tues – Fri, 10 am-5 pm, Sat & Sun, Noon-5 pm. The Regional Art Galleries remains open until 6 pm on Wednesdays.

Phil: The work celebrates the cruel beauty of snow. I like to go out in the worst weather, it gives an edge to the shooting. Sometimes I go walking on snowmobile trails, encountering some “sleds” but never anyone strolling along. The character of the snow has changed in the last decade; we used to get the tail end of lake-effect, dry pearly flakes, now it’s more like coastal snow, heavy and wet.
